Arrivals
In this section of the blog we detail what will happen when you arrive at summer beach club so you know what to expect and can get on the rides as quickly as possible.
blue badge parking
There was a number of blue badge spaces available near Next. However, these are a little walk away as the summer beach club has been put in the orange car park therefore, taking up some parking spaces.
entering the park
In order to enter the summer beach club you will go to one of the admissions booths as seen in the picture bellow. It costs £2 to enter the summer beach club with entry being free after 6 pm. I had contacted the organisers in advance to see about access however had no response so when buying entry I just asked about free carer. My PA was allowed in free of charge by showing my access card with the +1 symbol click here to find out what is the access card and is it worth it.
To enter the park all guests are given a blue wristband to ware once paying £2 except carers. If you or someone in your party is unable to ware a wristband then another member of your group can ware it for them.
Token prices
Each token cost £1 and tokens can be bought individually or in a package. for example, I got the £20 token deal. Tokens can be purchased online in advance by clicking here summer beach club book now. However, there is a website fee so works out cheepier to buy tokens when you arrive. Full information regarding how many tokens each rides cost can be found in the ‘our day at the summer beach club’ section of this blog post.
Our Day At The Summer Beach Club
Now we’re in and have sorted all of our access out it’s time to enjoy the park and get on some rides. In this section you will find a write up of our day of the summer beach club including all the accessibility information of course. So come and enjoy the day with us!
Walkaround the summer beach club
In order to help you know exactly what to expect when you visit the summer beach club I have filmed a full walk around of the event including tokens and prices for rides and games. The video can be seen bellow:
Roller Coaster
Located towards the back of the fun fair is a wild mouse style rollercoaster. the coaster was a good family coaster with some thrilling drops and spins. It was 4 tokens per person.
In terms of access, In my experience my PA was free when showing my access card with +1 symbol. There was around 4 steps to get onto the ride station with not very good handrails. The ride had no music playing and I was able to keep my ear defenders on during the ride.
The Happy Caterpillar Coaster
It was now time for a more tame ride so headed to the the happy caterpillar rollercoaster. It was a lovely children’s coaster with a small layout. I was allowed on no problem as an adult and we got 4 laps. The caterpillar coaster costs 3 tokens per person.
In terms of access, the rollercoaster was very smooth so don’t need to worry about being jolted around. There was no music playing on the ride. You would struggle to fit 2 adults so next to each other but there was plenty of rows available. In order to get up to the ride there was a few steps with a handrail.
Waltzer
With a cost of only 3 tokens I had to check out the waltzes! I was not expecting an intense cycle due to the low price and the type of event however, I was wrong we got a good cycle that was quite intense.
In terms of access, This ride did play loud music however, I was able to keep my ear defenders on. In order to get onto the waltzes there was a few steps. Its worth noting that the staff were telling you witch car to sit in this meant I had to walk around the edge of the ride a little way that was quite uneven.
Freak Out
New for the 2024 line up is freak out one of the most thrilling rides at the event. Freak out cost me 4 tokens and I did seem to get quite a short cycle however, I think this was due to there only being me on the ride. Although not a lot of air time moments it was still great fun and I would definitely ride it again.
In terms of access, there was some big steps to get up onto the ride platform and the seats were quite high up off the ground. This ride did play loud music however, I was able to keep my ear defenders on.
Miami
For my final ride of the visit I headed on the Miami that was conveniently located near to the exit. Miami cost 3 tokens and I got a pretty good cycle. Although not as intense as other I’ve done before it was still a fun ride a great for families.
In terms of access, there was a few stairs to get up onto the ride platform however, I found the seats quite easy to get into. I was able to keep my ear defenders on during the ride.
Quiet room
Located in the Oasis next to the summer beach club is a quiet room with sensory equipment. To get to the quiet room enter the oasis at the entrance next to the playground. If you are inside Meadowhall and need i use the quiet room then it is located just past KFC in the Oasis. You then simply ask a member of staff on the desk if you can use the quiet room. I the quiet room is a nice large room with some fab sensory equipment such as: bubble tube, projector lights, tactile sensory wall, and more as seen in the images bellow.
Final Thoughts
We heading to the summer beach club just after 12pm and it was not very busy at all despite it being the school holidays. However, as we were leaving it began to get a little more busy. With most rides only having one member of staff it seems like they are not expecting the event to get to busy. Therefore, from my experience I don’t believe you need to worry about queueing for rides as we were let on the next cycle each time. The summer beach club is a fun family day out and a great location to meet up with friends and family. Despite the poor access information before my visit the staff were helpful on the day in accommodating my needs which was very helpful. I have some tokens left and Meadowhall is local to me so I will definitely be returning before the end of the summer. Especially with the announcement of the quiet sessions! It will be great to not have to worry about sensory overload which on a busier time the summer beach club could easily be.
Thank you so much for joining me as I explore the summer beach club! I look forward to seeing you on my next adventure. bye, for now!
